I explore material layering as a way of constructing a fluid, relational landscape, inspired by Miwon Kwon’s idea of site as shaped by memory, emotion, and lived
relationships rather than fixed geography. By overlaying a painted landscape with a translucent
organza print featuring a double exposure image of my mother amid nostalgic artifacts from the Vietnamese subsidy period, the work becomes a hybrid space where personal history, cultural memory, and perception
continually negotiate visibility and meaning.
